Bangladesh suffered the ignominy of being bowled out for their lowest T20 total as they went down by nine wickets to Pakistan in the ninth match of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup at the Asian Institute of Technology ground in Bangkok today.

Bangladesh captain Rumana Ahmed decided to bat first, and the procession of wickets began from the third over. Pakistan bowlers decimated Bangladesh’s top order in no time, and took three wickets inside four overs to send the cat among the pigeons as far as their opponents were concerned.

The fourth wicket stand of 15 in five overs seemed like an aberration, as Bangladesh lost their last six wickets in seven overs of sheer madness. The highest partnership in Bangladesh’s innings came during the tenth-wicket stand of 17 in two overs. Jahanara Alam was the highest run-getter in Bangladesh’s batting misery with 12 runs to her name.

Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof used six bowlers today, and none of them went wicket-less during Bangladesh’s capitulation. Sana Mir bowled three overs, took three for only five runs while Aiman Anwar captured two scalps for nine runs in four overs.

Chasing 45 for victory, Pakistan romped home in 9.5 overs for the loss of one wicket. Javeria Khan was unbeaten on 26 from 31 while Iram Javed was 17 not out when Pakistan reached their target.
Bangladesh are now in third position of the points table with two wins from four matches. Their next match will be against Sri Lanka on December 3, Saturday at Terdthai Cricket Ground, Bangkok.

Score:
Bangladesh Women 44 (15.3/20 ov)
Jahanara 12, Sana 3-5

Pakistan Women 45/1 (9.5/20 ov)
Javeria 26, Iram 17, Khadija 1-18

Result: Pakistan Women win by 9 wickets (with 61 balls remaining)
