Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 328 runs to take Test series

Pakistan defeated Bangladesh in the 2nd test match within four days by a massive margin of 328 runs at Mirpur Stadium today.

With 550 runs to chase in the last innings, Bangladesh faced an uphill task but their batsmen failed to apply themselves and capitulated in front of the home crowd.

Yasir Shah was the chief wrecker for Pakistan as he made full use of the fourth day pitch to capture four wickets for 73 runs in 21 overs. All the Pakistan bowlers gave their team crucial breakthroughs and kept the stranglehold over Tigers intact.

Azhar Ali was the man-of-the match for his 226 in the first innings as well as the man-of-the-series for his consistent performance with the bat.

Mominul Haque's 68 only delayed the inevitable as his teammates returned to the pavilion at regular intervals. Mohammad Shahid was the most impressive bowler for Bangladesh and picked up four wickets in the match.

Shuvagata Hom was the last Bangladeshi batsman to fall when he was bowled neck and croft by Junaid Khan after a 44-run last wicket partnership with Mohammad Shahid.

Shuvagata scored 39 runs from 55 balls with six boundaries before a Yorker from Junaid rattled his middle stump.

Where Yasir Shah was troubling the top-order batsmen on a worsening pitch, Taijul Islam didn't stand a chance.

Taijul tried to sweep his way out of trouble but only managed to top-edge Yasir's delivery to short fine-leg where Sami Aslam took a tumbling catch.

In-form Mominul Haque departed soon after Soumya when he drove a tossed up delivery from Yasir Shah to Asad Shafiq at cover.

Mominul was the highest scorer in the 2nd innings with his knock of 68 runs. He played 102 balls and struck nine boundaries, most of them square on the off-side.

Wahab Riaz struck just after lunch and took his team closer to a victory in this match. He sent back Soumya Sarkar for one run when the batsman was caught down the leg side.

Mushfiqur Rahim's wicket hushed the Mirpur crowd into silence as he played on Yasir Shah's delivery and went back to the pavilion for naught.

Mushy tried to defend a length ball that turned away but dragged it on to the off-stump to the delight of the Pakistan cricketers sensing a comprehensive victory at Mirpur.

A sudden brain-freeze of Shakib Al Hasan left his supporters scratching their heads as the Bangladeshi allrounder threw his wicket away after getting his eye in.

Mohammad Hafeez enticed Shakib with a tossed up delivery to go for the big shot. Shakib duly obliged, fell for the trap and only managed to slice the ball into the hands of Wahab at mid-off to depart for 13 runs.

Mahmudullah followed Tamim back to the pavilion after three overs when he was dismissed for two runs by Imran Khan.

After being softened up by Wahab Riaz, Mahmudullah pushed at a delivery away from the body and only managed to edge it to the slip cordon where Younis Khan took the catch on the second attempt.

Tamim Iqbal was the first Bangladesh wicket to fall on Day 4 after scoring 42 runs from 67 balls. Pakistan's fast bowler Imran Khan got the Bangladesh opener caught behind chasing a wide delivery.

The southpaw from Chittagong played a wide delivery from Imran without moving his feet and paid the ultimate price for his ill-timed recklessness.  

Tamim narrowly missed the record for the highest run-getter for Bangladesh held by Habibul Bashar by seven runs during this match at Mirpur.
