Inter-varsity chess begins at Brac Uni

The Berger First Inter University Chess Championship, organised by Brac University Chess Club, started at the Brac University Auditorium yesterday. Fourteen universities – both public and private – along with one college are taking part in the three-day competition.

AKM Sadeque Nawaj, general manager of marketing of the sponsor company Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd, was present as the chief guest in the inauguration ceremony.

Niaz Murshed, the first grandmaster from South Asia and also the advisor of Brac University Chess Club, elicited the rules of the competition while being present as the special guest.

Brac University's vice chancellor professor Syed Saad Andaleeb also delivered a speech, outlining the merits of chess.
