GM Rakib unbeaten champion

Grand Master Abdullah Al Rakib became unbeaten champion in the Walton International Rating Chess Tournament after playing out a draw against FM Mahfuzur Rahman Emon in the last round at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall room yesterday.

Rakib, who confirmed the title with one round left, secured 8.5 points from nine games.

FM Mehdi Hasan Pagar finished runner-up with eight points. Abdullah Al Saif became third after a tie-breaker as he finished tied on seven points with Anisuzzaman Jewel (fourth) and SM Sharon (fifth).
