BHF suspends Kamal

Former national hockey player Rafiqul Islam Kamal has been suspended from all hockey-related activities indefinitely due to his failure to clear dues to the Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF).

"Kamal has been suspended from all hockey activities as he failed to clear Tk 74,000 of the school hockey tournament in last three years. However, the suspension will be withdrawn if he clears the dues," said BHF general secretary Abdus Sadeque after emerging from an executive committee meeting yesterday.

Kamal, who was the school hockey coaching committee chairman during that time, admitted that he could not clear the dues despite being asked by the federation a few times.

"Out of an estimated budget of Tk 4.5 lakh, we spent Tk 2.26 lakh for the coaching committee of school tournament. I returned Tk 1.5 lakh but I still owe another Tk 0.74 lakh. I verbally said that I would reimburse the money to the federation," said former BHF executive committee member Kamal. "I really did not expect such punishment. I will try to clear the dues as soon as possible."
