Messi's contract and Barcelona's troubles

According to Cadena Cope, Barcelona are expected to announce the deal of Lionel Messi’s contract on Wednesday.

The Club plans to extend the Argentine’s contract till 2021. The release fee clause is set to be around 300 millioneuros ($340.65 million).

The official signature will possibly be made on July 15 when Messi is back for pre-season training.

Messi had earlier rejected Barcelona’s previous terms of offer for a contract renewal and media reported that he would renew his contract after his wedding.

Meanwhile problems continue for Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu. Local television station TV3 reporter Xavi Torres revealed that the club were giving back only 16 percent of the fee to the members for the ‘Free Seat’ service.

Under this system the Barcelona club season ticket holders can sell their tickets to the club and get fifty percent of the price the buyer pays for the ticket.

According to  Marca, TV3 claim that they didn't receive their fair share for the ten biggest matches of the last three seasons, in which Barcelona are said to have ratcheted prices up from 200 euros to 1500 euros.

TV3 claimed that the club hiked the price up for several games, which was not reflected in how much was redistributed to partners, an assertion that current vice-president Cardoner insisted was false.

Meanwhile, the club hierarchy tried to distance itself from former president Sandro Rosell. Bartomeu served as vice-president under Rosell, the former president is in remand for laundering money belonging to the Confederation of Brazil Football (CBF).

Bartomeu himself is awaiting trial on the Neymar signing case and could face upto eight years in prison.

Rosell and Bartomeu were earlier exonerated while FC Barcelona were charged as a club for discrepancies in Neymar’s signing.
