Bangladesh to play tri-series in Sri Lanka next March

BCB president Nazmul Hassan

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon said today that the Tigers would be part of a triangular T20 series involving India and hosts Sri Lanka in March next year.

"To commemorate 70 years of Sri Lankan independence and 70 years since the formation of its cricket board, Sri Lanka wanted to celebrate in a big way and have a series against India. Now they have extended an invitation to us as well and it will be turned into a tri-nation series," Papon told reporters in Colombo.

"This tournament is going to held next year from March 15. There will be seven Twenty20 matches. Each team will play the other twice and then there will be one final. We have agreed to that."

Papon also informed that there was a scheduling issue due to the Tigers' planned tour of West Indies at the same time, but that it could be adjusted.

"It was clashing with our tour of West Indies, but we have spoken to the West Indies Cricket Board and we can adjust that. So we have agreed to the series and that is what was announced today."
