'We needed that belief'

Mushfiqur Rahim played a remarkable innings under pressure against Sri Lanka to give the Tigers a vital victory against Sri Lanka in the last match and he reiterated that Tigers needed this win badly in order to break the chain of defeats and get back some confidence and belief.

Mushfiqur stood firm and continued his strokeplay to carry the Tigers home in their remarkable chase of 215 for victory – the fourth highest successful chase in T20 cricket.

A victory like that can write off a lot of the disappointments of recent bad performances and bring some much-needed belief to the Tigers.

"If you look at the T20 format and obviously on paper Sri Lanka are favourites but in T20 format whoever will play well on the day will win. So thanks to the Almighty that batting wise we were terrific in the last match and that's why the team could win. So we needed that belief and confidence and it has returned," Mushfiqur Rahim.

Bangladesh are even on points with Sri Lanka and India after each have won one and lost one in this tournament so far. Mushfiqur felt that Tigers have a great chance to go through the finals but reiterated that they need to continue with the same belief they showed against the Lankans.

"Hopefully we will continue and obviously we have a good chance. We still have two remaining matches so we are concentrating on the next match and the team are planning to win the next match and go through to the final," he concluded.
