Liton, Afif strike tons as match ends in draw

South Zone's veteran batsman Tushar Imran followed up his ton in the first innings to score another hundred in the second innings against East Zone but Liton Das and Afif Hossain struck centuries as well on Day 4 to play out a draw in the Bangladesh Cricket League match at Sylhet today.

Tushar, who was batting on an overnight score of 46, had to leave the field retired hurt after scoring a 145-ball 103 with 12 fours and two sixes. Soumya Sarkar, who was unbeaten on 29 yesterday, only added six more runs to his overnight score before he fell to Abu Jayed Rahi, out leg-before. Mohammad Mithun showed promise as he struck a 92-ball 66. He was involved in a 105-run fifth-wicket partnership with Tushar before the latter went off having completed his ton. Tushar scored 130 in the first innings.

South Zone declared with the score on 311, setting East Zone an impossible 415-run target for victory on the final day. East Zone batsman Liton Das and Afif Hossain struck tons in a 205-run partnership as the match ended in a draw. South Zone accumulated nine bonus points while East Zone gains six.

In another game at Bogra, North Zone played out a draw against Central Zone. Mushfiqur Rahim only added 10 to his overnight score of 101 as North Zone were bowled out for 300. Mizanur Rahman then struck 191-ball 100 as the match ended in a draw. North Zone, who currently top the table got seven points. Central gained 10 points from the match.
