Bangladesh Cricket board announces the 16-member squad for tri-nation series.

BCB announced the squad for the first and second ODI in upcoming tri-nation series. The big news is that both pacer Taskin Ahmed and opener Soumya Sarkar were excluded from the squad while Anamul Haque was picked in the 16-member squad.

Liton Das, who played during Bangladesh's tour of South Africa, did not make the squad while wicket-keeper Mohammad Mithun has been picked. Nasir Hossain also made the squad and Sabbir Ahmed was retained despite his recent disciplinary issues. Bowling all-rounder Abul Hassan, who in 2012 against the West Indies became the first cricketer to hit a century from number 10 on debut has made the squad while all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin has been retained.

Within the last 12 months, Soumya featured in 12 ODI's, scoring 243 runs at an average of 24.30 which reflects his inconsistent 2017. According to chief selector Minhazul Abedin, his consistency was the reason for his exclusion.

"There is no question regarding his talent, but since he has been struggling with consistency, we decided to give him a break. I hope he will return to form and return to consistency," he said.

Regarding Taskin Ahmed's exclusion, the chief selector cited his poor form in South Africa as a reason and said that the board decided to give the pacer a break as they felt that some domestic cricket will help him return to form.
