Bangladesh Cricket Board(BCB) physio Dr. Debashish Chowdhury informed that Bangladesh's ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is making positive progress from his injury but insists that he will need some time to return to full match fitness.

Shakib, who is the Tigers' T20 captain was unable to play in the ongoing Nidahas Trophy tri-series T20 tournament in Sri Lanka and though the Tigers will miss his presence but it was best for Shakib to sit out the series after he injured his finger during the Tri-series ODI final against Sri Lanka at Dhaka.

Shakib met hand specialist Dr. David Haw on March 9 at Australia and after Tests were done, the decision was taken that no major intervention was needed at the moment.

"Shakib was administered an anti-inflammatory injection and the doctor is hoping that the medicine will take effect slowly," Dr. Debashish informed.

The physio added that Shakib will return to sporting activities within 7 to 10 days if the medicine takes effect.

"The pain is getting better. Total progress is positive. If we can continue like this then he will return to sporting activities within this time frame (7 to 10 days)". he added.

The physio warned that there is a difference between match fitness and taking part in sports activities since there is a mental aspect to coming back from an injury and playing in a competitive match.
