Tigresses continue poor run of form

Salma Khatun's side continued their poor batting show in the ICC Women's World T20 as Bangladesh suffered a seven-wicket defeat against England in their second group match at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium at Gros Islet, St Lucia on Monday.

England skipper Heather Knight's decision to field first was quickly vindicated as Bangladesh were reduced to five for two in their first five overs.

Ayasha Rahman struck 39 runs off 52 balls, featuring three sixes and two boundaries but found little support as four top-order batters were dismissed for naught.

Bangladesh managed only 76 for nine in 20 overs; a slight improvement from their 46-run total in the first match against West Indies. Kirstie Gordon picked up three wickets while debutant Linsey Smith chipped in with one.

In their reply, England lost two early wickets for 13 runs and were on 55 for three when rain caused a lengthy delay, leading to a revised target of 64, which they reached in just three balls after resumption.

Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka at St Lucia tomorrow in their third group match.
