Bangladesh team are hit with yet another injury blow ahead of the upcoming Sri Lanka tour. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has informed in a media release that all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka due to a lower back injury.

"All rounder Saifuddin has been ruled out of the Tour of Sri Lanka 2019 with a lower back injury. He will now enter a rehab programme under the supervision of the BCB Medical Team. Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed will replace Saif in the squad. All rounder Forhad Reza meanwhile, has been named as replacement for Mashrafe Bin Mortaza who is out for a month with a recurring hamstring injury." the BCB media release said.

In absence of Mashrafe, Tamim will be captaining the Tigers in the Sri Lanka tour. Taskin last played an ODI for Bangladesh in 2017 and although he was initially named in the squad for both the Test and ODI series in New Zealand, he was later ruled out due to injury and he subsequently missed out on a place in the World Cup squad due to lack of match fitness.
