Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal today confirmed that he will not be featuring for Prime Bank in the upcoming Super League stage of the ongoing Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 League (BDPL).

Prime Bank, who have already confirmed their spot in the Super League, are on top of the league's standings with 18 points from nine wins in 11 games.

However, they will not be getting the service of their star player for the rest of the tournament as Tamim, through an audio message, informed that he will be going through rehabilitation for his leg pain.

"I had felt severe pain in my leg in the last few games. I had been struggling during fielding and while running between the wickets. I consulted with doctors and BCB medical staff and they advised me that it would be better for me to not continue playing in this condition," said Tamim today.

Bangladesh national cricket team are scheduled to fly to Zimbabwe on June 29 for a full series featuring one Test on July 7 followed by three ODIs and as many T20Is.

The first of the three ODIs will be played on July 16 while the T20 series will begin on July 23.

Tamim was hopeful of recovering before the Zimbabwe tour but mentioned that he would need to get proper rest in order to do that.

"They [BCB medical team] also advised that I need proper rest and go through a proper rehabilitation as I have Zimbabwe series next month. The importance of international cricket is definitely more.

"I need to be in a far better shape to be fit to play international games. I hope that I will recover before the Zimbabwe tour and will be fit to play the first Test. In order to do that, I need to whatever is necessary. I am trying to maintain all the procedures the medical team advised me," added Tamim.

The Super League matches of BDPL will be held on June 19, 20, 22, 23 and 25 with the top six teams of the table participating.
