Abdul Majid, Naeem Islam and Jahurul Islam struck unbeaten tons on the opening day of the first round of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) today.

Mazid hit a 219-ball 141 for Walton Central Zone  in what was his 10th ton in first-class cricket but bowlers made their mark in the game as Central Zone were bowled out for 282 runs with the likes of Prime Bank South Zone's Abdur Razzak and Al Amin Hossain bagging three wickets each while Rubel Hossain scalped two. Bangladesh's dropped openers Liton Das and Nazmul Hossain failed to make their mark on the first day with the former falling to Shafiul Islam, out leg-before for a duck. Nazmul was bowled by Al Amin after scoring 23.

Central could count themselves as lucky to have reached a score of 282 as they were in dire straits, struggling at 158 for 9 before a 124-run partnership revived their innings with tail-ender Shahidul Islam scoring a 75-ball 58 during the last-wicket partnership with Mazid who remained unbeaten on 141.

South Zone reached 29 for no loss at close with Shariar Nafees and Anamul Haque both unbeaten on 15 and 9 respectively at the game in Sylhet Cricket Stadium.

In another match at Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi, twin hundreds from Naeem and Jahurul took BCB North Zone to 335 for 2 at stumps against Islami Bank East Zone with both centurions remaining undefeated, having starred in a 235-run third-wicket stand. Opener Mizanur struck 63 before going off retired hurt. Abu Jayed and Hasan Mahmud bagged one wicket each for East Zone.
