Shakib's lean patch continues

Mohammedan Sporting Club skipper Shakib Al Hasan continued his dismal run of form as he cut a forlorn figure in his side's nine-wicket thrashing at the hands of Legends of Rupganj during a Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 League game at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.

Bangladesh's premier all-rounder Shakib, who scored a total of 73 runs in his six games at an average of 12.16 for Mohammedan this campaign, failed to open his account in today's game. And had it not been for Shuvagata Hom's late 32-ball 52, laced with five maximums and a sole boundary, Mohammedan would have ended up with a much more humiliating score than their eventual 113 for nine.

Shohag Gazi, Mohammad Shahid, Naeem Islam and Qazi Onik all scalped two wickets each for Rupganj but it was Gazi who remained the most economical of all, giving away just eight runs in his four overs that featured two maidens.

Shakib bowled economically as he gave away just 17 runs in 3.1 overs but the top all-rounder remained wicketless.

An unbeaten run-a-ball 51 from opener Pinak Ghosh and Mehedi Maruf's 46-ball 41 were enough to see Rupganj romp to victory with 11 balls and nine wickets to spare.
