Premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan reached 5000 runs in T20s while playing for Gemcon Khulna against Gazi Group Chattogram in the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.

Shakib, who had already scalped 355 wickets in T20s, also became the second player after West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo to have reached the double of 5000 runs and 350 wickets in the format.

The top all-rounder worked a short Shoriful Islam delivery towards square leg to take a single in the fourth over as he reached the milestone in his 312th T20 game. Shakib, however, miscued the next ball he faced and was caught in the deep by Mosaddek Hossain off a Nahidul Islam delivery. The top all-rounder departed after scoring just 3 off seven deliveries.

Aside from Shakib, a total of 64 more cricketers have reached the 5000-run mark in T20s.

Shakib made his return to cricket through the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup after serving a year-long ban imposed by the ICC. But the 33-year-old all-rounder is yet to make his mark in the five-team tournament. He scored 15 and 12 in his first two games for Khulna against Fortune Barishal and Minister Group Rajshahi respectively.
