Shakib becomes Uber’s first brand ambassador from Bangladesh

Bangladesh's Test and T20 captain Shakib Al Hasan, currently recuperating from an injury, became Uber's first ever brand ambassador from Bangladesh. Uber had launched its on-demand car ride services in the perennially jammed Dhaka back in 2016 and Shakib had been the first person from Bangladesh to take an Uber ride.

"I am very excited to be part of Uber Bangladesh and I was the first one to take an Uber ride in Bangladesh and it was amazing," the all-rounder said in a Facebook video on November 3.

Yesterday, the company gave a press release announcing the star player as their brand ambassador.

"As a cricketer, I travel a lot and I have personally enjoyed the seamless experience of booking an Uber. It's great to see how Uber uses technology to revolutionize the way people move around cities and empowers millions around the world by creating economic opportunities. I'm very excited to be batting for Uber because it's revolutionizing both the technological and transportation landscape across Bangladesh," Shakib was quoted as saying in the press release.
