All three Dhaka Premier League fixtures played yesterday turned out to be low scoring affairs where bowlers mostly dominated the terms. Mohammedan SC pacer Shafiul Islam registered his best bowling figures of five for 32 while an allround performance from Ariful Haque saw Prime Bank make a winning start.

At the BKSP-3 ground, Shafiul's fifer had Gazi reeling on six for 26 in 8.4 overs and despite Touhid Tareq's 56 and an unbeaten 71 from Shamsul Islam, the side could not avert a sub-par 182-run total. In their chase, Mohammedan were in a spot of bother at one point but skipper Raqibul Hasan struck an unbeaten 82 to steer the Motijheel-based outfit to a three-wicket win.

At the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Prime Bank rode on an allround performance from Ariful to subject Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity to a two-wicket defeat. Ariful scalped four wickets for 24 runs to help bundle out Khelaghar on 195 in 46.5 overs before returning with the bat to strike an unbeaten 32.

Meanwhile, a 119-run second-wicket partnership between Saif Hassan and Farhad Hossain helped Prime Doleshwar romp to a nine-wicket victory over Shinepukur Cricket Club at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.

Prime Doleshwar's Forhad Reza and Arafat Sunny retuned with economical figures of three for 32 and two for 31 respectively before the side chased down Shinepukur's 175-run total, courtesy of unbeaten knocks from Saif (83) and Farhad (66).
