Bangladesh cricketer Sabbir Rahman has been fined BDT 50,000 for allegedly directing racial slurs and throwing stone towards Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi player Elias Sunny during the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket League match between Sheikh Jamal and OLD DOHS in Savar yesterday, informed the BCB through a press release today.

The BCB also mentioned that it had served an official warning to Sheikh Jamal's Elias Sunny and also fined the club's manager Sultan Mahmud BDT 50,000 over the incident.

A complaint was filed yesterday with the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) following the incident.

"The technical committee of CCDM held a virtual hearing on the evening of 16 June where the players Md Elias of Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited, Shabbir Rahaman of Legends of Rupganj, Sheikh Jamal Manager Sultan Mahmud and the match officials were present.

"After an extensive hearing session the Technical Committee has decided to take the following disciplinary measures: 1. Fine of BDT 50,000.00 each for Shabbir Rahaman of Legends of Rupganj and Sheikh Jamal's Manager Sultan Mahmud and 2. Warning to Md Elias of Sheikh Jamal," read the press release.

Sabbir, who is a player of Legends of Rupganj, had arrived with the rest of his team for their match against Partex Sporting yesterday while Sheikh Jamal and OLD DOHS were playing in BKSP's Ground 4. According to Sunny, the game was stopped for five minutes when 'Sabbir came down and directed racist slurs' and 'threw a stone' at Sunny.

Sabbir, however, denied the incident and said that Elias was a senior cricketer and he would not do something like that.
