Riyad to go for scan

Mahmdullah Riyad's whirlwind half-century helped Chattogram Challengers to the first 200-plus score in the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) and took them to a 16-run win against Dhaka Platoon yesterday, but it may have come at a price as Mahmudullah admitted his recently-healed hamstring was causing him trouble yet again.

The Chattogram skipper had originally suffered the hamstring injury during Bangladesh's pink ball Test against India in Kolkata last month -- the second Test of the tour, which also included three T20Is in which Riyad had captained the Tigers.

Consequently, he missed the first two matches of the BBPL before returning in the third round.

He scored 15 runs and took one wicket in that game and only scored two in the next but yesterday's blitz seemed like a return to form for one of Bangladesh's premier batsmen.

Although there were indications of discomfort -- the 33-year-old was seen limping while running -- he blasted five boundaries and four sixes during his 28-ball 59 against Dhaka Platoon.

However, at the post-match press conference, Mahmudullah admitted that he was feeling some pain in the same hamstring that had been injured.

"Yes, I felt some pain and it's the same hamstring injury that I suffered earlier. I will need to undergo scans and only after that can I tell you the details," Mahmudullah said.
