One of the groundsmen at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, where the first Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh is taking place, was tested positive for coronavirus on the third day of the Test match on Friday.

The groundsman along with nine others who have come in direct contact with him have been put in isolation, confirmed the Sri Lankan media manager.

"A temporary worker, who reported to work, was found positive during regular testings that we do before they enter the venue. Once he was found positive, he along with nine of his first contacts were sent to follow regular health protocols,'' Prasanna Rodrigo, media manager of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), confirmed The Daily Star over the phone.

The second and final Test of the series is also set to be played at the same venue from April 29.
