Mushfiqur thinking of 300 after double ton

Mushfiqur Rahim was the first Bangladesh batsman to reach the magic landmark of double hundred in Test cricket and after scoring another double hundred today, he believes that it is possible for a Bangladesh batsmen to score triple hundred in the coming years.

"Of course, I believe that I am also capable [of scoring a triple hundred]," Mushfiqur said. His first double hundred came in 2013 against Sri Lanka away from home. It was a significant achievement at that time and even he did not know at the time whether he would score another one. "When I first scored a double hundred I didn't think I would be capable. I thought that this is the first and it is very difficult and wondered if I would be able to score another ever again; maybe this is the maximum.

Following today's knock, where he broke numerous records, including being the scorer of the highest individual knock for Bangladesh, his belief has grown.

"I didn't have the belief that I could do it but after getting this that belief has returned a little and I now think that inshAllah I can get more and contribute more and it's not impossible," he stated.

Mominul had yesterday fallen after a brilliant 161-run knock and although he went close a couple of times, he has so far not been able to score his double ton. Mushfiqur was of the opinion that the tides would turn and Bangladesh batsmen would make bigger scores in future.

"It's not impossible for whoever plays in our team in the top order. So I think that Mominul will come to this stage very soon and when he gets this magic figure he will be the next guy and he will probably do more than this," he recalled.
