Former New Zealand batsman Craig McMillan will not be taking over his position as Bangladesh's batting consultant due to a loss in his family, informed Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) through a media release today.

"Craig has communicated to us that his father has passed away recently and therefore it would not be possible for him to take up the batting consultant's position of the National Team for the upcoming tour at this moment of grief. We fully understand his situation. Our sympathies are with Craig and his family during this difficult time, " BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury was quoted as saying in the press release.

McMillan was appointed as the batting consultant of the Bangladesh national team for their upcoming three-Test tour of Sri Lanka. Batting consultant McMillan and spin bowling consultant Daniel Vettori were asked by the BCB to come to Bangladesh ahead of the upcoming Sri Lanka tour.

McMillan replaced South African Neil McKenzie, who confirmed last month that he had resigned from his role as batting consultant for the Bangladesh national team.
