List A status granted to new DPL T20 tournament

The Dhaka Premier League (DPL) T20 tournament, which is set to begin from February 25th prior to the 50-over edition of the tournament, has been granted List A status.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board had earlier announced the creation of the new tournament yesterday and today informed about the List A status. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) took the initiative in line with their promise of creating more opportunity for the local players in T20 cricket as questions have been raised about the opportunities of local players in the franchise-based Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

12 clubs divided into four groups will take part in the tournament. A total of 15 matches will take place and every club at least will be able to play two matches. League matches will be held between February 25 to February 27 and a semifinal will be held on March 1. The top team from each group will play the semifinals. Final will be held on March 3 under lights.
