A total of 27 cricketers from the preliminary squad for the upcoming potential three-Test tour of Sri Lanka underwent the coronavirus test on September 22 and only right-arm pacer Abu Jayed tested positive for the virus, informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today.

Young opener Saif Hassan, who had earlier tested positive and was kept in isolation, was also among the 26 cricketers who tested negative today. The opener confirmed about his test result through a Facebook post today.

"Pace bowler Abu Jayed Chowdhury Rahi has reported positive for Covid-19. He will receive treatment in isolation for Covid-19 as per guidelines and will undergo further tests in due course," BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury was quoted as saying by the BCB in a press release.

A total of 11 players including Jayed were kept in isolation after they arrived from their respective hometown to join the Tigers in their ongoing camp at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium ahead of the Sri Lanka tour, originally scheduled for later this month. The whole squad, except Jayed, trained together for the first time today.

The BCB is conducting a series of coronavirus tests on players who are currently involved in the week-long camp that started on Sunday.
