It was difficult, Anamul says after first session since pandemic

Bangladesh's former opener Anamul Haque Bijoy became the latest cricketer to resume training at BCB's Mirpur facilities today and the player reiterated that it was a difficult task to train outside after having spent so many days on the sidelines due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Although BCB had originally planned and scheduled a roster for training from July 19 till 26, they decided to extend by two more days up till July 28 after star batsman Mushfiqur Rahim expressed eagerness to continue training for a few more days.

"It feels really good to be able to practice at Mirpur after such a long time. It's been four months since I trained and it was quite a hardship. Usually I had trained inside but being able to train in the ground and also use the indoor facilities was something special. I hope to continue like this till Eid and then obviously will be training on a continuous basis after Eid," Bijoy said before thanking BCB for creating an opportunity for him to train.

Domestic cricketers outside the sphere of the national team had been left in a lurch during the pandemic. The BCB however are willing to accommodate domestic cricketers as much as possible after Eid, but only by maintaining health protocols.

"There are domestic cricketers who expressed their desire to avail the training facilities after Eid. The board is willing to provide facilities to as many cricketers as possible, but we also have to follow safety measures and maximise the venues so that safety and social distancing can be followed accordingly," BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury had told The Daily Star yesterday.
