'Not playing just because of technique’

Bangladesh opener Liton Das has been among the runs in the first two BBPL matches while playing for Rajshahi Royals. The outfit has won both matches but Liton was not of the opinion that he has to perform to make up for a lack or runs in the past due to his form now. He was also adamant that it was not his technique that can be focused on since only performance matters.

Liton is an extraordinary force on his day in T20 matches but did not live up to his billing in the BPL previously. Having played two fluent knocks so far, his aim was to score runs at the top.

"Good thing we are getting runs in the top-order. Hope is that we can score runs at the top so the lower order doesn't have to bat much," he said.

When reminded of the past he said: "I am not thinking of the past. You are making me think but I am not focused on what has gone by."

Usually the brightest batsman in the Bangladesh lineup due to his sublime ability to play shots, expectations have been on Liton to use his technique to score more runs. There might even be a belief at present that he is not making good on his technique. Liton however did not want to take on that extra burden.

"Technique actually does not amount to much. If you perform then everything is okay. I won't play in the side only due to technique if I don't perform. Everyone thinks about when Liton will perform, so I also think along those lines. Technique will be there upto a certain standard but you have to perform," he said
