Dropped catches hurt Tigers

Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said that the Tigers fell short by 15-20 runs while batting but in the end the dropped catches hurt them as well.

Nazmul Islam dropped Keemo Paul twice. First in the 44th over off the bowling of Mehedi Miraz and then in the 48th over when Rubel Hossain was bowling. Asked if they fell short of the required score or if the fielding was below par, Mashrafe said that both played a part.

"We fell short by 15 to 20 runs. When Tamim-Shakib were batting, there was a chance to score 300. Then when Riyad-Shakib were batting, it was 41 overs. So if they could have batted for 6-7 overs more than we could have scored 270-280.

"Obviously we suffered due to dropped catches while fielding. [Keemo] Paul was dropped twice or else Kemar Roach would have come to the crease and it would have been harder for them to rotate the strike," he said about the dropped chances.

During the game Nazmul Islam Apu was signaling something after he dropped a chance. Speaking on that, Mashrafe said: "The problem was that it was difficult to see the ball due to flood light on the other side, although there are no excuses at this level." Mashrafe concluded.
