Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo, who was in Bangladesh for the past few days, returned to his home in South Africa yesterday.

The Tigers' head coach arrived in Bangladesh to assess the performance of the players in the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup. Domingo also had meetings with the selectors to form the squad for the upcoming home series against West Indies scheduled for January next year.

Chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cricket operations committee Akram Khan confirmed to the media that Domingo returned back to South Africa but he is expected to be in the country in January again.

"Domingo will join us again in January as he left for South Africa. As there is not much to do for the national coaching staff at the moment, they will join us again before the West Indies series," said Akram.

The 46-year-old had previously come to Bangladesh during the BCB President's Cup back in October to observe players in that tournament. Along with Domingo, pace bowling coach Ottis Gibson and fielding coach Ryan Cook were also involved during the three-team tournament back then.

The West Indies were originally scheduled to play three Tests, three ODIs and two T20s against Bangladesh in January. But the visitors are now expected to play two Tests and three ODIs as according to sources, the Windies expressed their desire to have a short stay.
