The past five editions of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) had seen only two hat-tricks. With Andre Russell notching a hat-trick today, the hat-trick count of this season's BPL is now three. He is the second bowler from Dhaka Dynamites to grab a hat-trick this season.

Mohmmad Sami had picked up a hat-trick in BPL's inaugural season. Bangladesh paceman Al Amin then achieved the feat in 2015.  The 2016 and 2017 seasons did not see any hat-tricks but in the sixth edition, Dhaka Dynamites' youngster Aliss Al Islam bagged an incredible hat-trick on his debut BPL match as Dynamites edged Riders out in a scintillating game during the BPL's Dhaka leg this season.

Day before yesterday, Wahab Riaz bagged the second hattrick of the season. Andre Russell today bagged the hat-trick of hat-tricks as he picked up the wickets of Mushfiqur Rahim, Cameron Delport and Dashun Shanaka in the last over of the Chittagong Vikings innings to restrict them to 174 for 5.
