BCB instructs staff to work remotely
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has instructed its staff to work remotely from tomorrow until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic through a press release today.
"In response to the evolving COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, the BCB has instructed its staff to work remotely until further notice from Sunday (22 March 2020). Exceptions will be made only for work that cannot be executed effectively outside the office environment," read the press release.
Meanwhile, the BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury informed that it will not be mandatory for employees at the BCB to work from 9 to 5.
"Under the current circumstances, the instruction for everyone will be to stay alert and to follow all the necessary medical advisory steps. And to address only the important issues while working at the office. For that we will only ask the ones who will be needed -- not everyone. When anyone will be needed at the office, only then they will come and work. It is not mandatory to work at the office from 9 to 5. We are stepping aside from that policy. We are trying to make our operational works limited unil and unless it is anything emergency. We will be providing specific instructions if anyone is needed to work from office. We are planning to run the office in this way for the time being. However, the special advise will be for everyone to be ready for any emergencies at any time," informed BCB CEO Nizamuddin today.
Ireland are scheduled to arrange their four-match T20I series against Bangladesh, starting from May 22 to May 29, at a neutral venue in England. This would be the first time that Ireland would arrange a series at a neutral venue. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, England has postponed all kinds of cricket till May 28 and now the fate of the Ireland series is now in jeopardy. Nizamuddin informed that the BCB are expecting a decision regarding the series will be communicated soon by the Cricket Ireland.
"Ireland Cricket Board will take any decision regarding this as they are the host. Already we are in touch with them. As England has taken a step regarding this, may be Ireland will be clearing their stance to us very soon," concluded Nizamuddin.
