Bangladesh Emerging women’s team clinch one-day series

Bangladesh Emerging women's team dominated proceedings today at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium to thump visiting South Africa Emerging women's team by six wickets and clinch the five-match one-day series 3-0 with two matches still to go.

The bowlers were on top from the off as Salma Khatun and Ritu Moni kept a tight leash on the visitors' batters. Nahida Akhter got the first breakthrough, removing South African opener Andrie Steyn (19) and after that wickets fell at regular intervals as South Africa were bundled out for just 92 runs in 33.3 overs. Ritu and Nahida bagged three wickets while player of the match Rabeya Khan grabbed three as well in just four overs, conceding 15 runs.

In reply, opener Sharmin Sultana fell early after scoring three. Captain Nigar Sultana (13) and middle-order batter Fargana Hoque (16) contributed with partnerships in partnerships as other opener Murshida Khatun struck a 71-ball 46 before departing in the 27th over with Bangladesh on 87 for four. Rumana Ahmed and Lata Mandal got the required runs as the hosts won with 22 overs to spare.
