Ariful strikes double hundred following return from UAE

Ariful Haque remained an unused substitute during the Tigers' Asia Cup campaign where fine margins saw them lose yet another final on the last ball of the match. The right-hander has however struck a magnificent double hundred today for Rangpur, carrying on from his unbeaten 117 yesterday.

The cricketer's performance in the domestic league was not affected by the heat and conditions of Dubai as having returned from Dubai he did not allow exhaustion to get the better of him. Ariful fell after a 325-ball 231 --his highest first-class innings.

This is also the batsman's highest score in any form of cricket, not just first-class. He struck 21 fours and four sixes in his innings so far with a strike rate of over 70. Rangpur were bowled out for 502. Rangpur had yesterday reached 300 for the loss of five wickets. Barisal reached 91 for the loss of one wicket at stumps.

In another match, at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium, Rajshahi reached 446 for six at close with Mizanur Rahman striking a 115 off 145 deliveries.
