Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim has been taken to a hospital near the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, where he suffered a hard blow on the side of the head from a Duanne Olivier bouncer in the morning session of the third day of the second Test.

Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin, on tour with the team, went to hospital with Mushfiqur and informed that Mushfiqur seemed fine and that the doctor was checking up on him at the moment he was contacted, which was just after the lunch break.

In the 14th over of the innings, with Mushfiqur on 11, Olivier dug in a bouncer and Mushfiqur took his eyes off the ball. He was hit flush on the left side of the helmet, so much so that instead of going behind the batsman as usually happens in such situations, the ball dropped in front of him. Mushfiqur dropped to his knees and was on the floor as medics came out.

However, the diminutive batsman continued his innings and went on to score 15 more runs off 32 further deliveries before being trapped in front by Wayne Parnell just before lunch.
