There have been speculations on captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s future and if he would be capable of continuing till the 2019 World Cup.

In a news conference arranged by BCB, president Nazmul Hasan has cleared the air with remarks regarding the captain’s future.

Nazmul Hasan was quoted by Prothom Alo as saying: “Mashrafe can play for as long as he wants”.

He commented that there was no replacement for Mashrafe and there is no alternative for someone of his stature.

“The board doesn’t have any plans to remove him from captaincy. There is no substitution for Mashrafe,” Hasan added.

In a recent talk with ESPNCricinfo, Narail's most feted export talked about the questions he routinely faces about his form and fitness.

“After the first two matches of almost every series, the calls come for my removal. It is tough to play in this way. I know that after two matches in a series, I will hear things about my departure. It is a challenge that I have taken on.

The captain commented on the constant speculation regarding his future and said “I am doing as much as possible but it becomes hard to play cricket in this climate."

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has been the stable base around which Bangladesh cricket has built itself.

Well wishers of the Bangladesh cricket team will be hoping that inspirational leader Mashrafe can play on till the 2019 World Cup.
