Bangladesh A beat Ireland A by 5 wickets

The Bangladesh A team have won the solitary unofficial four-day match against their Irish counterpart by five wickets at the Sylhet International Cricket stadium today.

Needing 105 runs to win on the final day, the second string Bangladesh side, who resumed on 27-2, rode on a 71-run fifth-wicket stand between Yasir Ali and wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan to seal an easy win.

The day however started badly for the home side when both overnight batsmen Al-Amin (24) and Shadman (25) were dismissed by Irish off-spinner McBrine, who also made the early in-roads in the other day with two quick blows.

But Yasir, who hit an unbeaten 47, and Hasan took Bangladesh close to victory before the latter departed for 31 with his side needing one more run to win. McBrien finished with 4-63 but his effort was not enough for Ireland to avoid a defeat, which was fashioned by Bangladesh A left-arm spinner Sunzamul Islam.

He picked up five wickets to bundle out Ireland for just 213 runs in 60.2 overs in their second innings yesterday, leaving the home side with a simple task of scoring 132 to win the game.
