Bangladesh lost the second T20I against South Africa by 31 runs and the series 2-0.

Quinton de Kock was the top-scorer for the Proteas with 44 runs from 31 balls. He was instrumental in the opening partnership of 95 runs with AB de Villiers.

Bangladesh:  138 (19.2/20 over)
South Africa: 169/4 (20/20 over)

Soumya Sarkar’s cameo of 37 runs from 21 balls was the bright spot for Bangladesh during their chase.

The opening stand between Soumya and Tamim Iqbal produced 46 runs, the highest partnership for the Tigers.

Player of the match Eddie Leie broke the back of Bangladesh’s effort with three wickets for 16 runs in three overs. Kyle Abbott and Aaron Phangiso also captured three wickets each.

South Africa captain Faf du Plessis was the player of the series with 95 runs in two games.

Earlier, Kyle Abbot polished off the tail with his in-swinging yorkers as Rony Talukdar and Mustafizur Rahman perished in quick succession.

Mashrafe Mortaza was the eighth wicket to fall after Kyle Abbott’s yorker uprooted his leg-stump.

Bangladesh skipper smashed two massive sixes during his cameo of 17 runs from 8 balls.

Litton Das went for the big shot with the required run-rate touching ten per over but failed to clear the fielder at midwicket.

He scored 10 runs from 7 balls before being brilliantly caught by Wiese.

Nasir Hossain lasted only two balls as he was dismissed for naught by Aaron Phangiso. Nasir chipped his shot to Rossouw at long-off.

Mushfiqur Rahim’s bad luck continued as he smashed a full toss from Leie straight to the fielder at short cover.

He managed to score 19 runs from 16 balls with a four and a six in his innings.

Shakib Al Hasan failed to fire with the bat when his nervy stay at the crease was ended by Aaron Phangiso.

The left-hander was targeting the left-armer, went down the track and tried to smash the ball over long-on. Unfortunately for Shakib, Rilee Rossouw took a brilliant catch to send him back for 8 runs.

Soumya Sarkar’s blazing knock of 37 runs from 21 balls gave Tigers the momentum early in the chase.

He hammered six fours and a huge six in his cameo before being dismissed by Eddie Leie.

After an enterprising partnership of 46 runs with Soumya, Tamim Iqbal was the first wicket to fall for Bangladesh.

Wayne Parnell dismissed Tamim with a slower ball as the batsman got a top-edge and was caught at mid-wicket by Wiese.

Tamim scored 13 from 18 balls with a solitary boundary in his innings.

Soumya, Tamim began aggressively chasing 170 runs to square the series against South Africa.

Bangladeshi openers were quick to dispatch any loose delivery and upped the ante with confidence.

During South Africa's innings, Mustafizur Rahman picked up his first wicket of the match when his off-cutter fooled du Plessis all ends up.

The ball stopped on the batsman and induced a leading edge from the Proteas skipper. Faf du Plessis scored 16 runs from 17 balls during his stay at the wicket.

Nasir sent back the dangerous de Villiers immediately after dismissing JP Duminy. AB tried to deflect the delivery from Nasir to fine leg but was caught behind by Mushfiqur Rahim.

AB de Villiers scored 40 runs from 34 balls with six shots across the fence.

Nasir Hossain gave Bangladesh their second wicket when he defeated JP Duminy in flight and produced a leading edge for a straight-forward catch.

Duminy scored six runs from four balls with one boundary to his name.

South Africa’s highest partnership against Bangladesh in T20I was stopped at 95 runs when Arafat Sunny dismissed Quinton de Kock for 44.

Quinton was more positive than his partner AB de Villiers, played 31 balls and smashed four boundaries and two sixes in his knock.

South Africa’s openers Quinton de Kock and AB de Villiers took the attack to the Bangladeshi bowlers in the second T20I of the series.

Both of them were quick to dispatch any loose delivery to the boundary and kept the scoreboard ticking with ones and twos.
