Ritu Akter, 2021 national high jump champion, produced her career-best result to finish seventh in the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games as she cleared 1.73 meter in women's high jump event in Konya, Turkiye today.

The latest feat saw Ritu eclipse her previous best of 1.70 meter, which happened during the National Athletics Championships in 2021, where she broke the previously held national record of 1.68 meter, set by Umme Hafsa Rumki.

Defending champion Rumki, however, could not reproduce her best of 1.73 meter she made in the National Athletics Championships earlier this January as the lanky girl could clear up to 1.70 meter in Konya and ended up in the ninth place.
