Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti has avoided a ban for showing his middle-finger towards Hertha Berlin supporters after voluntarily deciding to make a 5,000 euro donation to the German Football Association (DFB) foundation.

In the aftermath of his side’s 1-1 draw against Hertha last weekend, Ancelotti retaliated aggressively to being spit on by some of the opposition supporters. The supporters’ anger may have been fuelled by the fact that Bayern had scored a late goal, but Ancelotti took exception to the uncouth behaviour and responded by holding his middle finger up to the fans, even admitting to doing so in the post-match press conference.

The Italian was asked by the DFB to explain his version of events before any charges were levied against him. However, any proceedings have now ended after Ancelotti volunteered to donate 5,000 euros to the DFB foundation.
