SL confirmed as sixth team

The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) yesterday officially confirmed Sri Lanka as the sixth participant of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup international football tournament.

The football's governing body of the country had been in touch with Sri Lanka and Nepal after both Pakistan and Maldives had conveyed their inability to participate in the tournament. However, the participation of Sri Lanka was confirmed yesterday in Melbourne where BFF president Kazi Salahuddin met with the federation officials of participating teams on the sidelines of the AFC extra-ordinary general meeting.

The BFF had earlier confirmed the participation of Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Bahrain but it is yet to confirm whether Bahrain's senior team or U-23 would be participating. The BFF is also yet to confirm the schedule of the tournament, which was initially slated for January 16 to 27.
