Tasnim Anika
Coming to the fold with ‘Power Voice 2012’, she took the showbiz industry by storm when she performed in the Gala of 'Miss World Bangladesh 2017' along with the already established Hridoy Khan. She has sung for various mainstream films and also has her own YouTube channel, where she regularly uploads covers and originals. Star Showbiz introduces you to the very talented and gorgeous Tasnim Anika!
What inspired you to pursue music as a career?
My father, Moinuddin Ahmed is a musician and he performed for the band 'Jamming' in Chittagong back in the days. You could say that I have been exposed to modern music since childhood, and I have always wanted to be a singer. I tried my luck in the program 'Power Voice 2012' and ended up in the top 10. I would say that that was the beginning of my musical career.
Could you tell us about your current projects?
A music video of mine is called 'Parina' and it is by DJ Rahat. It was recently released and we are working on its music video. Besides that, my upcoming track 'Paglami' is just knocking on the door. I am confident that the audience will really like it. I have some international projects at hand, but I want it to be a surprise!
What would you say is the biggest achievement of your musical career until now?
I will be honest with you, the fact that I am in the music industry and can do things on my own accord is probably my biggest achievement. It might sound a bit cheesy, but I am just happy to be here. I am loving my life right now, I did a show in Singapore a few days back. Of course, there are highlights in my career. My performance at the 'Miss World Bangladesh 2017' program will be memorable for me, as well as my playback in the upcoming film Nolok starring Shakib Khan and Boby.
Who are your biggest inspirations in music?
My biggest inspiration is my family. As I previously mentioned, my father is a musician and I look up to him a lot. If you want me to name a specific artist outside of my family, I unfortunately can't name one specific person. A lot of traits from many different people inspire me, but I try to be as original as I can as an artist.
Describe yourself in one word.
I think I'll go with "honest". I try to be as honest as possible with myself, my family and my craft.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Time, for me, is an arbitrary phenomenon. I just want to say that somewhere down the line; I want to be my own hero. I want to reach a point in life where I can say that I can look up to myself as both an artist and as a person.
