Strength: Acting, Cinematography

Weakness: Story, Direction, Music

Runtime: 143min

Rating: 2/5

PLOT: The famous Magik band reunites with new members after losing one of its own.

REVIEW: Aditya, KD and Joe are depressed with their individual lives and to add to the existing trauma, Jiah, played by Shraddha Kapoor, joins the group. The highlights of the film were the acting done by Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal and Purab Kohli. Another aspect that contributed to the film was the cinematography, done brilliantly by Marc Koninckx. Prachi Desai deserves a special mention due to her mature portrayal of Aditya's wife. Shraddha Kapoor's role however, seemed out of place.

The movie was filled with downsides, of which the script was perhaps the worst. The direction seemed very aimless and too depressed to hold the audience's interest. The script was also too contrived and had no strong point to hold it all together, as a result, the story was fuddled. The attempted narration tries extremely hard to influence the audience's feelings and explains the unsaid thoughts of the personalities, not allowing the audience the happiness of discovering it for themselves. Another huge let-down is the music, which is ironic since the movie is music-based and the original film provided rock anthems that people still chant.

Overall, the film was an unfortunate let-down, given the hype it created. There is however, a chance for a third instalment of the "Rock On" series that could reclaim its original glory.
