Star Wars: Rogue One Gets New Composer

The first stand-alone film of the Star Wars franchise "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will be scored by composer Michael Giacchino. The music was previously appointed to be scored by Alexandre Desplat, but due to extensive re-shoots and production process the Oscar winning composer could no longer be available, for which he was replaced with Giacchino, who has a long relationship with Disney and Lucasfilm. The maestro has composed the music for many Pixar films that include "The Incredibles", "Inside Out", "Ratatouille","Cars 2" and "Up", for which he won an Oscar.

Giacchino will be the first composer to provide the score for a Star Wars film other than the series' mainstay, John Williams, who will be returning for "Star Wars: Episode VIII".
