‘Ready Player One’ Smashes Box Office

The trailers and teasers were a premonition of what was to be expected: The smashing success of Steven Spielberg's latest film Ready Player One. In its first four days alone, the sci-fi film raked in $53.2 million, and the number keeps growing as the week progresses. The film has made record by being the most successful opener of Steven Spielberg in a decade, competing with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull which raked in almost double the amount. While critics have expressed complaints regarding the faithfulness of the adaptation from the book to the movie, it seems the mainstream audience just didn't care about the nitty-gritty details. The multiple references to pop culture and popular media, along with a unique approach of storytelling and mind-boggling animation, Ready Player One has certainly paved its way to being one of the most successful works of the accomplished director.
