Meeting Olivier Assayas

On 2nd February, the International Film Festival Rotterdam hosted a masterclass session for the French director Oliver Assayas. The talented filmmaker brought his film "Personal Shopper" with him and presented it while taking the masterclass. Interestingly, the international director, despite reaching such heights, did not fail to stay humble and down-to-earth. Added to his generosity, his over-enthusiastic playful nature made everyone feel at home. When asked about a specific film by Roman Polanski for which he wrote a script, he added that the film was not made according to his perception and if he was the director, it would have been different, maybe even better. While taking the masterclass, the French director also added that he felt going to a film school is not as important as people make it to be, and that simple dedication and hard work can make a person a great filmmaker.
