Excellence Award Moët & Chandon goes to Mathieu Kassovitz

While the "Pardo d'onore" is awarded to exemplary directors, the "Excellence Award Moët & Chandon" is given to esteemed actors and actresses of international films.

This year, Locarno Festival is giving this prestigious award to the French actor, screenwriter and filmmaker Mathieu Kassovitz. Kassovitz is known both worldwide and in the French cinema industry as quite the successful director and actor, having notable contributions in both fields. As far as his acting contribution is concerned, he has been in movies such as Amélie by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Amen (2002) and Wild Life (2012) for which he was nominated as the best actor in multiple award events.

He also had various roles in French TV series and has his own film production company named MNP Enterprise. According to Carlo Chatrian, Artistic Director of the Locarno Festival, "Mathieu Kassovitz is one of the most talented actors of his generation. He is the heir of that great tradition of performers who manages to achieve credibility in the most diverse roles."
