De Niro to Receive “Chaplin Award”

Veteran actor Robert De Niro has been named by The Film Society of Lincoln Center as the recipient of its 44th annual "Chaplin Award", which honours major industry talents. The actor-producer will be honoured by the Film Society in a gala, which will feature notable guests and interview footage taken from De Niro's career. After receiving the award, he will be joining a list of previous Chaplin recipients that include Alfred Hitchcock, Meryl Streep, Morgan Freeman, Elizabeth Taylor and Billy Wilder.

De Niro will receive the award in the Chaplin Award gala on May 8, 2017, for an acting career stretching over four decades. He is also the co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival, an event launched to boost the economic prospects of lower Manhattan in the wake of 9/11. De Niro's upcoming project includes co-directing the Broadway musical adaptation of "A Bronx Tale", slated for release in December.
