SAG Awards 2018: A Prelude to Oscar Results?

The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles was star-stricken as Three Billboards Outside Ebbing won a whopping three trophies in the Screen Actors Guild Awards 2018. Along with the prestigious Film Ensemble Prize, the 2017 drama snatched the award for the Best Lead Female Role and Supporting Role via Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell respectively. Gary Oldman continued his winning streak, snagging the award for the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his fantastic performance in Darkest Hour. Everyone's favorite voiceover, the legendary Morgan Freeman was honored with the SAG Lifetime Achievement Award. While on stage to receive the award, he criticized the trophy itself for being 'gender specific'. The box-office blockbuster Wonder Woman won the award for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture. On the television side of things, Alexander Skarsgard won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for Big Little Lies, while Sterling. K Brown was awarded for his performance in This is Us. Nicole Kidman added to her long list of accolades with the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie with Big Little Lies as well. With all said and done, the Screen Actors Guild Awards highlights the best of the best in Hollywood. With the Oscars looming around the horizon, it looks almost certain that the awardees here are in for some more trophy gold!
