DESHI GRAPEVINE

Indian artists get more preference – Bappi Chowdhury

Young actor Bappi Chowdhury feels that there are enough actors with competent talents in the Bangladeshi film industry and it is unfair that foreign actors get preference over our own. Despite complaints of repetitive plots and poor production quality, he feels that the Dhallywood film industry is starting to emerge. Citing the poor quality of the cinema halls, he emphasized that the fans are still attending the shows, despite such pitiable conditions and he feels that this support will ensure the ultimate survival and flourish of the Bangladeshi Film Industry.

Two films starring Bappi Chowdhury were recently released, titled "Lover Number One" and "Ajob Prem". Both films have been accused of copying Bollywood productions, but he clarifies that the copyright had been bought from the original makers for the film "Ajob Prem". He stresses that the mindset of the audience should be changed and geared towards supporting the local productions.
